Here is a list of different types of climbing plants:

Hoya

They’re root clinging and twining climbers that have fleshy leaves, as well as clusters of usually waxy petalled, long lasting, star-shaped flowers. They’ll grow within temperate or tropical conditions. However, they may be grown within protected positions, like upon a verandah in colder regions. Organic, well-drained soils are preferred. Good examples: H. carnosa, H. bella, and H. australis.

Jasmine (Jasminum)

Mainly tropical climbers, a few can sustain colder regions. Generally, they possess a primrose-like flower that consists of a slender tube and five to six flat spreading lobes that are followed by a black berry-type fruit. Many soils are appropriate in a partially shaded or sunny position. Try J. azoricum, J. nitidum, J. polyanthum, and J. officinale.

Honeysuckle (Lonicera)

It involves many scented climbers and semi-climbers, some deciduous, some evergreen. They contain tubular flower clusters usually yellow to reddish to green in color most typically borne in the spring or summer. They like moist, fertile soils within sheltered positions, although some are extremely hardy and can grow in complete sun. Try L. japonica, L. caprifolium, and L. x Americana.

Mandevillea

These are deciduous, semi-hardy twining plants which grow to 5m. It’ll flower from summer to early fall with tiny clusters of fragrant white to pink funnel-like flowers. It’ll prefer light acidic soils within sheltered positions.

Sweet Pea (Lathyrus)

Lathyrus odoratus is simple to grow within many well-drained soils, and support is needed for the tendrils. Flowers grow in the hotter months within a variety of colors especially in whites, reds, and pinks.

Other climbers include: Stephanotis, Phaseolus Caracalla, and Nasturtium.
