The importance of three types of solar warranties

Most solar systems in today’s market come with some form of warranty, to ensure that your new system will last and perform as expected. Three installation warranties should be taken into consideration when installing a solar system.

 •    Productivity warranty
The performance of your solar panels decrease every year as they age. Solar system manufacturers carry out lab tests to determine the yearly productivity of each panel they produce. Most solar systems in Bakersfield are guaranteed to operate at 80% of their initial performance rate after 25 years. Productivity warranties also lay out the yearly percentage of loss of production that you should expect from your panels. When looking for a solar system in Bakersfield, choose one that guarantees a low rate of loss for your panels.

 •    Solar equipment warranty
Solar energy systems installed on the roof do not move a lot, so they are less likely to be damaged. However, most solar equipment comes with a warranty ranging from 10 to 25 years. As part of the warranty, the solar panels are guaranteed to be free from any problems of two main types: durability issues and manufacturing defects. If the panels fail and the cause of the failure is established to be either durability or a manufacturing issue, you have a right to receive a new system, as long as the warranty period hasn’t lapsed. An inverter, a part of the system, is generally also warranted with shorter warranties.

•    Workmanship warranties
Workmanship warranties are usually provided by the company that installs your system. Solar systems are a big investment, so you need to be sure that the company installing it is professional and confident enough to stand behind their work. A badly installed solar system can not only degrade the curb appeal of your home, but it can also lead to energy inefficiencies and can even do serious damage to your roof. A company that gives workmanship warranties is confident that they will do a good job in installing your solar system.
