Problem skin is not as simple as a few breakouts now and then. Problem skin is having acne everyday combined with large breakouts, blackheads and whiteheads. It is a very difficult issue to deal with and can make you feel embarrassed to face the day. There are many skin care products you can buy that are available at your local drug store as well as stronger products that are medicated and available through prescription from your doctor or dermatologist. There are also many cosmetic treatments you can try that focus not only on the blemishes but even the scarring. Microdermabrasion and fraxel laser treatments are just two such treatments. Following these steps everyday will also help cut down on breakouts:

1. Never pop. Instead use cover up to avoid spreading bacteria.
2. Use a good sunscreen with your skin care products everyday especially if you use prescription drugs or lotions for acne. Sun can aggravate breakouts as well as cause sensitivities from the medication.
3. When you have acne it is natural to want to try to cover it up. Unfortunately makeup can aggravate your skin. If you must use makeup choose a non-comedogenic formula as they are less likely to clog pores. As well once home thoroughly clean your face to cut down on oily build up.
4. Your pillow cases and sheets can actually collect oil from your skin as you sleep and then reapply it. Make sure you change your sheets at least weekly and clean makeup brushes often for the same reason.
5. Look for skin care products such as antimicrobial soaps as a good cleanser to remove bacteria and use it twice daily.
6. Antimicrobial soaps are good but look for gentle cleansers that will not scrub your skin. Although you feel you want to scrub to smooth it will do nothing more than aggravate your skin.
7. Although moisturizing is good for most skin types, it is not good for oily skin prone to break outs. Do not use a moisturizer or hair products that have an overly oily feel.

Combining medicated skin care products with the proper skin care regime will help keep problem skin under control. Cosmetic medical treatments will also aid in smoothing away breakouts and scarring.
